14 Sweet Ways to Pamper Your Pet for Valentine’s Day

You don’t need a special day to pamper your pet, but Valentine’s Day is a nice reminder nonetheless. This “people holiday” can be a wonderful “pet holiday” too! When those paws come padding across the floor to see you on February 14th, you’ll be ready with lots of love and attention. Get inspired with these 14 sweet and simple ways to pamper your pet.

1. Playtime for two
The two of you can always find something to do! You know your pet’s favorite activity, whether it’s romping around playing fetch or scampering after a toy mouse, so set aside some time for lively play.

2. Spending time with others
If your dog is social and well-behaved, he’ll probably enjoy spending time with other dogs, kids, or adults. Your dog gets to be lavished with pets and pats; plus, a visit from your pup might brighten someone’s day!

3. Going for a walk
If the weather allows, go for a walk past your dog’s favorite sniffing grounds.

4. Quiet time
If your tuckered-out puppy needs a little downtime, let him rest, but not without a blissful belly rub or scratch behind the ear, of course.

5. New toy
You don’t have to get rid of his favorite slobbery stuffy, but you can always surprise your pet with a new toy to pique his interest.

6. Home spa day
If a professional pet grooming session isn’t in the budget, have a home spa day. Groom your dog so he’s looking extra-handsome, or brush your cat while she purrs with contentment.

7. Homemade meal
Tie on your apron, and prepare your pet’s favorite meal – just be sure that the ingredients are healthy and safe for your pet.

8. Special food treat
Pick up something delicious (to canine minds, anyway) from the dog bakery, or indulge your pet in a treat that he doesn’t get very often. Delight your parrot with nutrient-rich fresh fruit; some seeds and certain fruits may be off-limits.

9. Shared sofa space
You don’t have to banish your pet from the sofa anymore; just be prepared with a pet furniture cover that protects most of the furnishing, or a pet cover with bolsters.

10. Shared bed space
Let your dog or cat catch 40 winks during the day or slumber for the night at the foot of your bed. You don’t have to fret about damage to your comforter or bedspread if you have a bed protector for pets.

11. Accent table/pet house
Give your small pet his own safe, cozy hideaway while furnishing your room with an accent table/pet house. Placed beside your chair or bed, this table will suit both you and your pet!

12. Food area update
Chow time! If your dog’s food mat is looking a little dingy, or it keeps sliding across the floor, place his bowls on a new personalized pet mat with slip-resistant backing.

13. Sweet(er) dreams
Freshen up your pet’s bed by washing the removable cover. Or, if it’s time for a new pet bed, find him something plush and soft with plenty of extra cushioning. Older animals especially will appreciate having a memory foam pet bed for pressure relief.

14. Animal attire
Winter shivers shouldn’t ruin this day. If your dog has short/thin hair or a weakened immune system, he might be more comfortable in a sweater or jacket. Just be sure to find a material that won’t cause your pet discomfort, and measure properly so that the fit is good. Socks or boots with grips can be helpful to elderly dogs or those in need of traction on slippery areas.
